fetus-balloon! when they, finally, let the
air out of my mother’s fuselage,
I wonder,
like a dud firecracker,
will I die in the sky?

sometime in 1939 Poland
Hitler’s modern
the king being
old school Europe is
old-fashioned and must
be bewildered by threat of sea war
headlines
then, I crown in Illinois
with everyone going into full-tilt
patriotic revenge
join the world and see the Navy!
